“Change happens one person at a time, and that is also true for the workplace," says Madeline, who comes to SmithGroup after a decade working in commercial real estate and consulting. "I hope improving someone’s work experience has a multiplier effect that improves people’s lives and makes positive impacts on their communities.” For Madeline—who attended a fine arts high school and has a background in theater—every new workplace begins with a story: Who is the space for? What are the behaviors we want to drive? "Then we can create a great strategy that can drive change and design," she explains. Madeline has a particular affinity for the added drama of a "sad and outdated office space," knowing she's working with a client who wants to try something new.  "Now I bring my love of storytelling, collaborative problem solving and sense of fun to my work and at home with my kids,” she suggests. “I think my performance background is my superpower.”
